Thankful.

November is supposed to be the month of giving and being thankful for the things we have. Somehow, Christmas has been forced upon us early this year! The day after Halloween, we were seeing Christmas commercials, and just a few days after that, our local oldies radio station went all Christmas, all the time. Our local Walgreens had their Thanksgiving decorations on clearance right about that time as well. We went to the mall and they already had their Christmas decorations up and were playing Christmas music. And so were several of the stores! When I talked to my mom about this, she was very surprised! Is this just a regional thing?

At first, I was horrified. I felt like Thanksgiving had been totally stamped out. I felt like it was a totally unfair way to make more money. It seemed to me that next year, Christmas will stamp out Halloween just like it did Thanksgiving, and my thoughts grew more and more foul and dark

Okay, that's a little over dramatic. But I think you get my drift, yes?

Being over-exposed made it pretty much impossible to NOT get in the Holiday Spirit, however. I thought about it for a long time and decided that as of now, it's okay to do a little decorating, get a little Christmas spirit flowing. I have plenty of ways to justify it, too. =)

Now, we're a week away from Thanksgiving, and I'm kind of merging them together in my mind. The Holiday spirit is about forgiveness, giving, and being thankful, and so is Thanksgiving for the most part! So why shouldn't we celebrate them together??

Maybe that's the egg nog talking...

(Just kidding, haven't had egg nog yet. Though I did try one of those Egg Nog Shakes from McDonalds.)

More to the point, I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving. I hope your turkey isn't carrying food poisoning  your stuffing isn't soggy, and you get a chance to grab some green bean casserole before everyone else gets to it.
