I love Christmas. No, I LOVE Christmas. I absolutely love it. I will listen to Christmas music until everyone else hates my guts and I have no remorse about that. I love the cold, the snow (reference: [blog]), the seasonal colors of white, greens, reds, shining golds, sparkling silvers, glowing trees, all of that. I just have to gush about it for a little bit.
I love the decorations. Everything glitters and shines. I love how the mini lights on the tree are soft enough that it doesn't hurt to look at them, but bright enough to light an entire room. I love how each ornament I put on the tree reminds me of a time, a place, a memory that I can relive year after year. I love how the tree stands proud and strong as the centerpiece of the living room. I love how it guards the presents underneath while simultaneously causing all of the ribbons and bows to glow. I can sit and look at my tree for HOURS.
Unless you have a cat. Then you're screwed. ;)
I love the spirit. People are happier. They're more willing to give you a hand with your bags, or boxes, or whatever you are trying to lug into your car or apartment. They're willing to hold doors open for you when you can't feel your fingers due to the cold and even make conversation when you get in the elevator with them. Or if your dog happens to be very excited to see them for some reason. Or if you happen to accidentally fall on them because you forgot to stomp your white fuzzy boots before you walked on a slippery surface. Not that I did that.
I love to give!! I spend so much time thinking of great gift ideas for people. I can't always afford what I want to give them, but sometimes I come up with some AMAZING ideas! It's true! I was going to get guitar picks made out of old vinyl records for my dad this year. He LOVES his old records and he plays 12 string. And really well. Anyway, gift-giving isn't about the most expensive gifts. It's about the gifts that mean the most. Whether that's a $20 set of beer steins or a $2 re-writeable DVD with Simon's Cat on it, it has to be directly from the heart, and it has to mean a lot. I get SO EXCITED in anticipation for the face on the gift-receiver when they open that gift! ERMAHGERD! That, to me, is SOOOOOO much more fun than getting gifts. I feel so satisfied when I get that "OH MY GOSH THIS IS SOOOO COOOL!" response. *chills*
I love the food. Love, love, love, love, love the food. Mmmmm. It's a great excuse to show off my baking skills. And to try everyone else's, too! And party food!! Buffalo chicken dip, dips and chips of all kinds, homemade cookies, casseroles, all kinds of things. Mmmmm. Love the food.
And, I get to wear my jingle bell earrings!
And, I get to make Lucy wear her jingle bell collar!
Merry Christmas!
